What Maintenance Really Looks Like With Mesh vs. Meshless

Mesh and meshless do not grow out the same way, so they should not be maintained the same way.

Mesh adjustments

For a mesh system, adjustments are typically done every 4–6 weeks. The system stays on the scalp and the beads are moved back up as the natural hair grows. I start around the four-week mark and adjust the schedule based on the client’s growth and how the system is wearing.

Mesh realignment

A full realignment is different. The entire system is removed and reinstalled. This allows new growth to be pulled through the mesh, helps prevent matting, and gives me a chance to check the scalp and make changes to the system if needed. The training schedule places this around every 3–4 months.

Meshless maintenance

Meshless does not receive mesh-style adjustments or realignments. The system is completely redone at each maintenance appointment.

Why keeping the schedule matters

Delayed maintenance can contribute to matting, breakage, slippage and unnecessary stress on the natural hair. The exact schedule can vary by growth, lifestyle and how the system is wearing, but this is not a service to stretch far past the recommended maintenance window.
